What is stress and what does it do?
 
Stress is when you feel like you have to handle more than you are used to. When you are under stress your body acts like it is in danger, making hormones speed up your heart, making you breath faster, and it gives you bursts of energy.
 
 
What causes stress?
 
Stress can be caused by almost anything. Whether you haven’t made a dead line, you made a mistake on something, even family stress. Something that is bothering you, financial issues, major purchases, environmental changes, death of a family member of friend, company issues. These are just a few of the top things that can cause stress for you.
 
  Effects of stress on your body:
If you are stressed about something and it lasts too long, it can have bad effects and cause, headaches, upset stomach, back pains, trouble sleeping, it can even weaken your immune system. Also it can make you depressed.
 
More effects of stress on the body:
  • Increase in the heart rate.
  • Increase in blood pressure.
  • Chest pain.
  • Frozen shoulder.
  • Cold clammy skin.
  • Flushing and feeling warmth.
  • Breathlessness.
  • Abdominal discomfort.
  • Aggravation of peptic ulcer.
  • Loose stools.
  • Difficulty in concentrating.
  • Anxiety.
  • Depression
  • Outburst of anger.
  • Isolation.
  • Weight loss.
  • Mood swings.
 
 How can you manage stress?
 
The best ways to manage stress it to learn healthy coping. A few ways to relax your mind, is by writing about everything that is bothering you. Write about how they make you feel.
 
Let your feelings out: Talk, laugh, cry, and express the anger you need to let out. Talking to someone close or a councilor about your feelings is a healthy way to relieve stress.
 
Do something you enjoy: Like a hobby, of a creative activity, playing with your pets, or anything that gets our mind off of the stressful things.
 
Meditation: When you meditate, you’re focusing on the present things that are happening right now.

  • Write in a journal.
  • Take a long bath.
  • Light scented candles.
  • Play with a pet.
  • Work in your garden.

Unhealthy ways with dealing with stress:
  • Smoking.
  • Drinking too much.
  • Overeating or under eating.
  • Spending too much time watching TV or computer.
  • Withdrawals from family and friends.
  • Using pills or drugs to relax.
  • Sleeping too much.
  • Procrastinating.
  • Filling up every moment of the day to avoid problems.
