1)      Do indigenous peoples have protections under the United Nations?

The indigenous people do have the protections under the United Nations. The indigenous peoples have the rights like any other human being. They have the right for health, culture, identity, employment, education and other issues. According t article thirty-one indigenous peoples will be able to protect their cultural heritage and other aspects of their culture and traditions. This happens to be really important to their in preserving their heritage.

Do indigenous peoples have representation in the United Nations?

They do have representations in the United Nations through the mechanisms from the working group of indigenous populations.  Within the new decade the United Nations have a goal to strengthen the international cooperation with resolving the problems from the indigenous peoples in areas like their culture, education and their human rights.

 

What is strip mining?

The mining of extract or coal from an open mine.

What are the effects of strip mining on the environment?

The coals waste sludge from strip mining is a toxic mix of diesel, mercury and other chemicals. They are placed into an unlined slurry dams, which ends up into the water in the ground and soon it finds its way into the water supply.
