 Chapter 28 First aid and CPR

Section 28.1

1. what are the first three steps that should be taken in an emergency?

 Survey the scene,

Rescue the person if necessary to prevent further injuy,

and send fo help.

2. Life skills: Intervention Strataegies Explain how to provide rescue breathing. 1. Open the air way of a person then tip there head back then lift chin. 2. Check for breathing by placeing your cheek next to person's nose and then listening and feeling for breathing. 3. If the victim is not breathing, pinch the nose closed with one hand while keeping the air way open by holding the chin up with other hand. 4. Tightly seel your mouth over the victim mouth and blow air into the victim's lungs, or hold the mouth closed and blow into the nose. 5. After two breaths, check for a pulse and sighns of breathing. 6. continue to give one slow breath every five seconds until medical help arrives, you are too exausted to continue, or the victim begins to breath.

3. Life Skills: Intervention Stragegies How would would you stop severe bleeding. 1. wsh your hands with soup and water. cover your hands with something that blood will not soack through. 2. if possible, cover the wound with stair a linge dessing , such as gouze. 3. If possible, raise the bleeding wound above heart. 4. Use your palm tp apply pressue directly over the dressing on the bleeding wound. keep applying pressure for at least 10-12 minutes to give blood clots tom to form. 5. If bleeding starts again resume pressur until it stops. 6. Warp pressure bandage tightly over the dressing. If blood soaks through, place another dressing on top. 7. Monitor ABCs.

4. when and how would you treat a person for chock? You will need to treat the person  by laying the person down and keep there feet evelated 10-12 in. helps supply more blood to the brain. people who are unconscious or who may vomit keep there head turn so they will not vomit.do not evelat the feet if the person's head is injured. keep victim warm, or in some cases you will need to keep person cool for over heated victims. Cover or rap the person just anof to keep warmth. 

5. Life Skills: Using community Resources Fined out where you can get CPR and first-aid training in your community. Write or call two of these places and obtain a schedule of thier classes. .See or call a hospital, college, or organization such as the Amarican Red Cross or the Amarican Heart Associatin.

6. Critical thingking you are the first to arrive on the scene of an auto accident where there are two victims. What should you do? .Check whoever is injured first or more. Then do everything you can for that person then check other person then call or search for help. 

28.2 Differentiate among five types of wonds and their treament. 1. Infections: Bacteria growth on wound or scrach. Enyone with a serious wound chould get a tetnaus shot to prevent infections. 2.  

 

Step 5. Weigh the Options and Decide

  • 1. 1. Survey the scene. 2. Rescue the person if necessary to prevent further injury. 3. Send for help. 4. Treat life-threatening conditions. 5. Go for help yourself if nobody has done so. 6.ildentify other injuries,and provide first aid. 7. Remain with the victim untill medical help arrives. Monitor breathing and heart rate, and prevent further injury.
