Conditional

  • My Definition: involving or expressing a condition, as the first clause in the sentence
  • My Examples: if this, then that
  • My Sentence: If the water is too cold, he won't go swimming.

Gerund

  • My Definition: a form of a verb ending in -ing and opperates as a noun in a sentence
  • My Examples: jogging, swimming, sleeping, eating
  • My Sentence: I sat on my couch and started knitting a sweater for my cat.

Modal

  • My Definition: expressing a distincion of mood, like between possibility and actuallity
  • My Examples: may, must, shall, should, can, could, will
  • My sentence: Mom, may I please go to the mall?

Preposition

  • My Definition: any member of a class of words that are used before nouns or pronouns to form phrases functioning as modifiers of verbs, nouns, or adjectives, and that typicallyexpress a spatial, temporal, or other relationship
  • My Examples: in, on, by, to, since, for
  • My Sentence: Today I saw a dog in a yellow rain coat.
